The .338 Lapua: Is It The ‘Ultimate’ Caliber For Snipers…Let’s See For Ourselves Shall We (VIDEO INSIDE)

As technology advances and new and exciting things are being invented on almost a daily basis, it’s interesting to see advances in firearms (at least to me anyway). But to make the claim of being the “ultimate” in anything, that’s a pretty bold thing to say right? So, is the .338 LAPUA really the “Ultimate Sniper Caliber” ?
Well, since the claim was made, let’s see just how well the .338 Lapua Magnum does under pressure. Using the AR-30A1 .338 LAPUA TARGET RIFLE, our intrepid host, does his best to see if the claim made was just idle boast, or true to form. One of the ultimate challenges for any rifle, is to see if it will save a man from being lynched. We’ve seen it done in several Cowboy films, hell, even Clint Eastwood did it in the film “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. But can it be really be done in real life…watch the video and see for yourself. The one thing the .338 Lapua Magnum does bring to the table, is a heavier bullet with alot more knock-down power than the .308 and at a greater distance. New World Record Shot is over 3 miles!

The Team Global Precision Group has set a new world record for the longest rifle shot at 6012 yards (3.4 miles) The bullet had a flight time of 17 seconds and required more than 600 MOA of elevation (10° of barrel elevation). “The target is 1/2 moa tall by 3/4 wide at 6012 yards,” Amateur shooters struggle to comprehend the training and technology required to achieve such a shot and falsely assume they too could hit the target by simply firing enough rounds. While their assumption may be true for a shot inside 100 yards, it’s far from accurate when shooting at steel more than 3 miles away. This is the longest marksmanship record in competitive shooting. A 40-year-old mother from Bradenton, Florida, was “gang-banged” by five of her daughter’s male friends from high school. The illicit encounter went down during a party at her home in Manatee County. When the cops showed up at the scene, the woman was drunk, and they soon learned the sick reason why it all went down.
